From the GIS Maps and Musings blog : "I just ran across this post in the Google Lat Long Blog which reports that the GIS manager for the District of Columbia has made their 3D building data (some 84,000 models) available to anyone using Google Earth. The blog post describes the four main reasons that DC decided to go to the “trouble” of making their data widely available to the public."
